SUPPORTING OUR VETERANS
Serving Those Who Served
Founded by Veterans and for Veterans, the Royal Canadian Legion is committed to supporting all who have served Canada—at home and abroad—in times of war, military conflict, and peace. Our mission is to honour their service and sacrifice by offering meaningful support, advocacy, and community.
Services and Supports
Our Legion offers a broad range of services to Veterans of all ages, service backgrounds, and needs. Whether you’re recently released or served decades ago, you are not alone—we are here to help.
Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Assistance
Our trained Legion Service Officer provides free, confidential support to assist with navigating the disability claims process through Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC). You do not need to be an Omemee Legion member to access this service.
Transition & Well-Being
We understand that the transition to civilian life can be challenging. We can connect you with programs and services that support mental health, housing, career development, and social reintegration.
Financial Assistance
Through our Legion Poppy Fund, we provide emergency financial assistance for Veterans and their families—covering essentials such as food, shelter, medication, and more during times of hardship.
Referrals & Advocacy
If you or someone you know needs specialized help, we can connect you to the right services—be it medical professionals, legal advisors, or peer support groups. The Legion also advocates at the federal level to improve programs and support for Veterans across the country.
Veterans in Our Community
We are proud to support our Veterans locally, including through recognition events, community outreach, and programs such as:
-
Free monthly dinners for Veterans
-
Free tickets to all of Omemee Legion’s activities and events
-
Remembrance Day events
-
Veteran visitation programs for those in long-term care
-
Christmas “Wish List” Gift program
